Permission

E-mail Print PDF

Permission(s) - who, what, when, where, why, how, to do/have...?

Easily defined by industry and publications as: a code access security (CAS) access control entry (ACL). It says what can be done and what cannot be done, plain and simple. You either have permission or you do not – no gray area. Although there are different types and levels of consent, authorization, the ‘okay’, proceed, green light go-ahead, so to speak, to perform certain actions, gain access to files, folders, data and information etc.

You only have to scroll through the exam guide’s index, outline, glossary to realize that this is a broad, wide and deep topic, crossing many a chapter and applications, levels and more. An in-depth and comprehensive understanding of what permissions, security, access, authorization, authentication, encryption, policies, control and more have, their implications, nature, function, set-up, maintenance, editing/modifications matter in the .NET Framework environment and dynamics.

Permission sets of CAS ACL guides these, together with the security policy, access, user, machine, level, enterprise policies and stipulations, by default, set/changed by the developer. Tracking permission denied errors DLL for example, permission classes, infrastructure, methods of administering permissions or access rights to specific users and groups of users, objects, files, all come into play as well.

Key Exam Points

  1. Use permissions, levels, types, dynamics for improved security, integrity and performance in the .NET Frameworks environment
  2. For the exam study practical and application examples for all types and levels of permissions, that help you to gain a better understanding of this in-depth topic
  3. Review the relevant chapters, system, domain, applications, specialty scenarios - do practice tests, illustrative real-life, lab and practice exercises
